Previous Memberships
Alabama Woodworkers Guild of Birmingham
I was a member of the AWG for five years. Members teach individual and small group classes on basic joinery, table making, hand carving, wood turning and many other subjects. Please visit the Guild website for more information. Guild members are also involved with community woodworking projects such as: building cabinets for Habitat for Humanity; creating 7000 wood toys annually for underprivileged children; handcrafted and delivered wood game boards to the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind; designed and crafted desk, tables and beds for the Alabama Sheriff's Boys Ranch
During my time with the Guild, I served as a board member in charge of marketing. I also served on the building committee for site and building procurement and development.
Alabama Woodturners of Birmingham
A non-profit organization founded in 1998, the Alabama Woodturners Association focuses on the art of woodturning. Monthly meetings give members the opportunity to show their work and share ideas. Demonstrations allow members to learn new techniques and methods and often include "hands-on" classes for woodturners of all levels of expertise.
